A Warming Hut in Storms of Life

When we understand and address the emotions underneath the problem, we can find renewal, confidence, and freedom in our relationships and lives.

The Warming Hut is more than a metaphor—it’s an experience.

Picture a small hut in Alaska, nestled at the base of a snowy hill, with a potbelly stove radiating heat to thaw cold, tired skiers.

This hut offers refuge and restoration when it’s needed most.

In my work, I create a similar experience—not a physical hut, but a space where emotional warmth melts the cold numbness of conflict, stress, or isolation. As emotions are shared and understood, relationships thaw, reactivity fades, and clarity emerges.

Here in Colorado, I offer my clients a warming hut in life’s storms—a safe place to take risks, be real, and work toward healing and connection.

Hi, I’m Michael Hamerly, LPC, CAC II

I’ve always believed that relationships have the power to shape our lives, and my own journey has brought me to a place of deep understanding and compassion for those in the storms of life.

My parents’ stable marriage was my first model for connection and love, sparking my interest in family therapy early on. Later in life, I faced addiction challenges that threatened my own marriage and career.

Disappointed by judgmental and dismissive counselors, I became determined to offer something better—a safe space rooted in empathy and respect.

Before becoming a counselor, I worked as a military pilot and software engineer, where I learned the importance of preparation and focus. I also discovered the power of listening when colleagues would come to me for guidance.

During seminary, I experienced a transformative presentation about emotional-focused therapy that changed my approach to healing. An internship at a hospice further deepened my understanding of empathy and the importance of connection.

Today, I bring these experiences—personal and professional—into every session.

I integrate and honor faith for those who value those aspects of life. Learn more about Faith Integration

I aim to create a warming hut where you can pause, reflect, and build a new path forward - without judgement or discrimination against culture, race, sex, faith, no faith, orientation, or preference or anything.
